In Search for Atmaca

In 2012, a trip was organised to Türkiye to meet falconers in the Black Sea region close to the border with Georgia. Ten days were spent documenting the cultural heritage of the area, which involved trapping migrating sparrowhawks (atmaca) to be used to catch migrating quail (bıldırcın). This process of trapping and hunting has a short window spanning weeks, during which the sparrowhawk is then released towards the end to complete its migration.
